The Monarch PTSO
(Parent Teacher Student Organization) would like to announce the launch of the 2011/2012 Coyote Canvass - the annual direct appeal fundraiser. This
is the ONLY fundraiser that the PTSO conducts each year. The funds raised are used to support the
academic experience of Monarch students and to support various other school
needs.
During the
current school year, the teachers and staff received over $16,000 in mini-grants
for classroom equipment and materials. All
of this funding came from last year’s Coyote Canvass. Here is what some of the recipients had to
say about their additional funding:
“I've never been a
part of any program where we received 100% positive feedback from students,
teachers and parents. It has been a tremendous success. It seems to be very powerful for students
that they get to use the newest technology and that they can read and listen to
their books at the same time using one of the 6 Nook Wi-Fi eReaders. I'm
thrilled with the results. The only downside is that I don't have 50 of
them available for checkout. I'm so grateful that the PTSO has given MHS
the opportunity to pilot this project for our students.”
~Beatrice Gerrish,
Librarian
"The math department and our students are
overwhelmingly appreciative of the PTSO's generosity in providing the funds for
10 graphing calculators and a set of 40
classroom radio frequency clickers. The additional technology is allowing
more of our students to be actively engaged in class discussions and make
stronger connections between their algebra, geometry, and graphical
models."
~Jen Bravo, Math Teacher
"I am so thankful for the support of Monarch's
PTSO for awarding me a mini-grant in the fall. We received 10 iPod Nanos in the World Languages
department. They have enabled teachers
and students to do more speaking and listening activities in class. We will
also use them for the district assessments in the spring which will save teachers
a lot of time and effort."
~Melissa
Duplechin, Spanish Teacher
With the
continued financial instability of our state school funding, Monarch needs your
financial support – now, more than ever.
Our school needs range from digital audio recorders and color printers
to new and improved hardware and software in almost every department.
We have roughly 1000 Monarch
families, and our goal is to have 100% participation for this very important
fundraiser. The PTSO is the only entity at Monarch who
is raising funds for classroom and on-going academic school needs. Please
help us to support our teachers and students.
We
appreciate that not everyone can give at this time; however, please remember
that any amount is appreciated. If you
can afford to give generously, please do so.
If you have
any questions regarding the Coyote Canvass or the Mini-Grant program, please
feel free to contact us.
We are
grateful for any and all donations. Please
remember that your donations are fully tax-deductible (Tax ID# 27-2283745).
